| Beschreibung: | In 1831 the volcano Empedocles (located 30 km south of Sicily) erupted forming a small island. August 2, 1831 the English captain Humphrey Fleming Senhouse put a british flag on it and named de island "Graham". Two weeks later (August 17, 1831) came a ship of Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies to reclaim its sovereignty and renamed the island as "Ferdinandea island". Finally, on September 29 the French planted the French flag and renamed the island as "islele Julia". He almost generated a serious conflict but the small island disappeared by wave erosion in just six months ... |
